Hello everyone! This may not be a post about lingerie, but it still falls in line with my desire to feature items to help one create and maintain a glamorous lifestyle. Along with being a lingerie and vintage junkie, I'm also really big on skincare and being soft and hydrated. I'm always looking to try new products, especially when they're vegan and cruelty free. I'm not going to go into the ethics of that right now, but I've always felt that testing on animals and using animal byproducts is unnecessary in the beauty world and I think companies that are cruelty free should be supported.

With that, I'm going to be talking about the amazing rose hydrating oil by Botanical Boutique Apothecary. The line is very new and just launched not too long ago, but I've been keeping track of them on Instagram for a while, partially because of their fabulous aesthetic. As it turns out, brand owner Christina Smith is a big vintage lover along with being a licensed Para-Medical Aesthetician in California, Colorado, and Nevada. Like me, Smith has a passion for glamour wanted to incorporate that into a line of skincare and beauty products that are not only beautiful, but ethically made. BBA's products are plant-based and incredibly luxurious and are all made my Smith. Currently the only product available to purchase is the hydrating oil, but a little birdie told me that a full skincare range is coming all with the same gorgeous rose scent the serum uses.

I've mostly been using the oil as a serum after using toner and before moisturizing twice a day and occasionally I use it in my hair. The product currently has all five-star reviews and other people have mentioned using it as a makeup remover and moisturizer, which is something I'll have to try. But I love it as a serum and hair oil.

I've been using the product for a few weeks now and I can really tell a difference in the texture of my skin. It feels so much softer than before I started using the product and my skin absorbs it fairly quickly. The formula is thinner than other serums I've tried but still hydrating. It's oil based but I don't find the product to be too oily and because it's a thin formula, you don't need a lot to use on your face. Along with being moisturizing, it also has anti-aging properties and brightens, calms, and heals skin. My skin is pretty under control and aside from the occasional breakout, I don't experience much redness or damage but I find that the oil maintains the health and appearance of my skin. I also can't attest to its anti-aging qualities because I'm 23 and don't have any visible fine lines or aging yet, but I'd love to know how this product tackles that.

I also love using the oil in my hair, it's honestly never been as shiny and soft as when I put the rose oil in. But don't put in too much because it'll look and feel oily. My hair is its natural colour and unless I'm shooting, I rarely use heat styling on it so it's in pretty good condition. It's naturally soft but I did really notice a difference when I put the oil in, I couldn't stop touching it! But after putting a lot on my roots and finding that it made my hair look oily, I started using it more closer to my ends and up, not putting much in my roots. This provided me with better results!

What the serum looks like on my hand.

As it's all-natural, the oil isn't pink like many rose-scented products on the market are. You have to shake the bottle before using it because the oil tends to separate. My favourite thing about this product is the scent, I love natural floral scents that aren't too sweet and this product delivered that. It's a very strong scent that smells absolutely divine, but I would advise those who have scent sensitivities to be wary of it and keep that in mind.

I love this product and it's been doing great things for my skin and if you're looking for a natural vegan serum, this is the one for you. It currently retails for $35USD, which is a bit pricy but definitely reasonable considering how great it is for your skin and hair. It's also great to support small businesses doing good things!
