I wrote about Starkers in my first blog post and I thought I'd revisit them because I have a few of their corsets and I absolutely love them. This time, I'm not talking about their bespoke pieces or the process that goes into making something custom, but about the samples I bought from the brand and about their ready-to-wear collection.
I'd been creeping their Etsy page for a while to look at the beautiful runway sample pieces for sale. I loved the pink ones and all of the lace detail on a lot of the ones for sale, so I brought up how much I loved them when I had my first fitting for the bespoke piece with Dianna. She let me try on the pink one I'm wearing above and it was so lovely! Dianna noticed that it came up a little too much in the bust and underarm (it was made for a taller person) and altered it free of charge, which was so lovely of her.
When it was finished, it fit absolutely perfectly even though it wasn't made for me. What I love about Starkers pieces is that they're comfortable to wear but they really cinch you in. I feel like I could wear their corsets for hours and not feel like my organs are being crushed (which is what people seem to think happens when you wear corsets).

Starkers is also doing a ready-to-wear line of corsets that are reasonably priced but still very high quality. I'd definitely recommend picking one up when they go on sale again because they're affordable, well-made, and ethically made. All the corsets are made in Toronto by Dianna in her home studio with real steel bones and great materials. Seriously, these are some good corsets if you're looking for a cheaper alternative but still want something that'll give you a great shape and will last for years. You'll also have to act quickly when they go on sale again because they sold out during the last pre-sale!
Also, Starkers is taking 25% off their Etsy samples on the 25th of every month this year (July's sale is coming up!) to celebrate their 25th anniversary. I got my samples during the sales and it's a crazy good deal, the samples could easily cost several hundred dollars and well into the $1000 range.
